Central Street Impact on Small Homes, see below
NOTE: This site is committed to educating people about concerns around zoning that can harm people...
See below and several other pages on this site have info specific to the Acton 2024 Town Meeting votes to rezone Acton.
NOTE: If there are errors in the Town Meeting info on ResponsibleZoning.org, please know the the authors did not intend to publish errors. The Town refused to provide numbers and we did our best to estimate based on work by local volunteer financial analysts/engineers.
We plan to keep the info below
for historical purposes, because it may be useful to people.

MBTA & SAV Zoning will destroy affordable housing on Central Street VOTE NO!
See our illustration [below] of what we expect to happen to modest income homes [like those on Central Street, River Street, etc], if the MBTA and/or SAV zoning passes.
FIRST here is the Town's zoning proposal for MBTA Zoning on Central Street.
We went parcel by parcel to examine the expected impact on each parcel of land.
Here is our illustration of what what we believe is likely to happen on each one acre parcel. We believe these "naturally occuring affordable housing units" will be destroyed under MBTA and SAV Zoning. Many of these smaller homes have tenants living in them. These tenants are not likely to remain if the zoning allows the owner to make millions by selling to developers. It will NOT be affordable and NOT inclusive, especially since a significant number of these existing naturally affordable homes already have diverse families living in them.
Please do not believe that ANY of the small parcels will have ANY affordable housing. They will build 8 or 9 units per acre to avoid having to build 10% affordable units.
