What About the MBTA Zoning Grants?

The "law" states that if Acton does not approve MBTA Zoning [not this particular proposal but "a" zoning law which meets MBTA Zoning requirements] that Acton will lose access to grants. But what about these grants? Officials will tell you that the grants are "necessary" so we can avoid taxes. BUT our careful analysis indicates that MBTA Zoning [even net of the grants] will cost MORE than not enacting MBTA Zoning. The town has yet to calculate whether the grants are worth the cost of the new building... of the impact on taxes, tenants, housing affordability environment, water property values, etc. Below we show a summary of our analysis. If time permits we will post more details. Stay tuned! or write to us using the "contact" button, and we'll send you some more info... We urge you to VOTE NO! to the proposed MBTA Zoning proposal so we can have the summer to look at the costs. Officials will tell you we can't afford to wait. We believe we can't afford to move forward with MBTA Zoning. MBTA Zoning is TOO EXPENSIVE, even with the grants.
